The journey that broke the tire rim of the vehicle - Meemure

The journey that broke the tire rim of the vehicle - Meemure

(I use Google Translate because my knowledge of English is very limited. Point out any errors. Thank you.)

Meemure is one of the most beautiful places in Sri Lanka. The film Suriya Arana was also shot here. From the way this village got its name, everything is delicious.

The mountain range in the Hunnasgiriya area was formerly known as the Dumbara Range. Dumbara means "always foggy". That's true. This village is located in the Dumbara Valley. This is a very difficult village and is isolated from the rest of the country. There is a "bee" tree at the entrance to this village. This is a very large tree and even today a vehicle cannot enter the village. The village is called "Mee Mura - Mee Mure" because this tree guards the village.

I went to this village a few years ago. We rode two three-wheelers with 7 friends. I bought my three wheeler (second hand) and left on the second day. I went without even knowing the condition of the three wheeler. We got a full tank of petrol from Hunnasgiriya town. A journey of 45 km. But there is a dangerous road with hills and slopes. We also took lunch from home. If you come to this beautiful village, do not forget to come by bike, three wheeler or four wheeler. There is no road for a large vehicle.

Also the food in this village is very expensive so take a meal from Hunnasgiriya and the medicine you need. To get to the village you have to cross a big mountain. There is a bus going up that mountain. Lulwatta bus. If you take a bus you have to walk about 25 km to this village from there. There is a tea estate in Lulwatta village where the bus stops. That too is very beautiful. It's cold.

In a little while you will find a place called "Mini Worlds End". You can get there by walking a few kilometers. If there was no fog all the lower villages could look beautiful. After that you will come to the top of the mountain. It looks a long way from there. And there's a wind break. From there you will find the slope leading to Meemure village. Along the way you will come across some very beautiful waterfalls. In the days I went there was water flowing across the road in some places.

That water is very clean. We drank the same water that flowed along the ground. On the way to the village we came across a large newly built cement bridge. We saw that the river below the bridge was very clean. It was so clean, the bottom looked so good. As we were trying to get into that stream, one person got there. He told me not to go down there unless I knew how to swim. The reason is that the place is very deep and the water is going down very fast. We did not believe that the water was so deep because it was so clean that even the bottom was visible.

There is a school in the village of Mee Murray. There is also a temple. Homes are far away. Farming as well as the kithul industry is the way of life in this village. (I wrote about Kitul in a previous article.) There is also a great deal of history in this village. History states that it was a village used by King Sri Wickrema Rajasinghe, the last king of Sri Lanka, to hide. A building built for him can be seen in this village today. There is also a well set up for the royals to bathe.

Legend has it that the history of this village goes beyond the written royal period. It is said that King Rawana, a popular legend of Sri Lanka, is also associated with this village. It is said that King Rawana used the place called Lakegala rock to launch his plane. There is something extraordinary that those who have researched through this story have found. This means that it has the lowest gravitational pull in the world.

If you have visited here you will find many interesting and old stories related to this village. Somehow we ended our journey and came back very well. Exhausted, I parked my three-wheeler in the yard and went to sleep. The next day, as the vehicle was about to park properly, a strange noise was heard. So I remembered God when I lifted the car from a jack and put it on one and shook the tire. The rim broke and the tire came off. I was very happy to go and travel well. Thank you.
